I just found out about NaNoWriMo this morning and I was hooked instantly. The idea is quite simple:

National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing on November 1. The goal is to write a 50,000 word, (approximately 175 page) novel by 11:59:59, November 30.

Challenge accepted!

I’ve been meaning to jump-start my old writing habits for a while now and just haven’t seemed to find the incentive to get going. Starting out is always the hardest part with any new endeavor. I don’t know if I’ll make it to 50k words or even if doing it this way is the best approach, but it’s definitely better than nothing and who knows.. it might just shape out into that novel that’s been occupying my mind for years; and if it doesn’t, I’m sure it will be fun nonetheless.

You should try it! What can go wrong?
